Weekly news

*sighs* last day of break. I shall miss thee UEA.
Craaaaaaazy week. Actually make that weeks. School has been running me into the ground, though fortunately it's not as bad as last year. Last Tuesday the new debate teacher organized a mock tournament for the novices, which had all of the JV and Varsity judging rounds till about 8:30 that night. In all actuality it was probably more benificial for us than it was for the novices. Turns out that I had some pretty accurate assumptions about one novice as far as speaking style. He'll do really well in the events as long as he can add more of a humoristic elemnt to his speaches. Stacy and I went on a food run (with an order list a page long) in the middle of the tournament, which was all fine and dandy until we tried to drive back. Alisha's truck, which up until that point had been working fine, suddenly decided to leave us with a dead battery; which left stacy and I stranded in the middle of the kohlers parking lot, with no phone or any numbers to call, and no knowledge of the car we were driving beyond basic operation. With the rationale of "this is Alisha's dad's truck. It's a manly truck, meaning that there has to be a fair amount of tools and such, meaning that there has got to be a set of jumpercables somewhere." I searched for such, while stacy, dubious of my reasoning, watched with a grim expression on her face. Not two minutes later I found the cables inderneath the back seat (at which point gloating ensued) and stacy and I set about connecting them. Fortunately the owner of the car in front of us came out and gave us a jump. Once back at the school food was handed out and hungry people were saved. *strikes a pose*
...yeah. Wednesday, due to the late run of the tournament, was not met with the greatest preperation and I nearly died my first two periods. Gov & pol was glossed over rather easily, but drama was a nightmare. We had monoloques due to be preformed and mine was a sad sorry excuse for such. PE on the other hand was actually a welcome relief. It's a rather small class and the teacher, Mrs. Hansen, was burried in homework to be graded and had not slept the night before, so we managed to convince her to let us all have a relaxation period(ie. she puts on some soft music, turns off the lights, and we sleep the entire period), in exchange for us helping her grade the remaining papers.
After school Becka and I went to kohlers and got horchata for us, Mike, and Adam. After we delivered them we hung out fro a while watching them rehearse for Les Mis (which is going to be incredible). After a while I went into the drama room and listened to Cam play piano, tried to figure out a crazy riddle that the insane old janitor gave us, and generally fooled around until becka came back.

gotta go, I'll finish this later

Soo... I'm turning 18 on sunday O_o
yeah, it's weird for me too.
Anywho, I want to have a big party/get together thing as I haven't seen everyone in ages. I'm thinking of a friday party followed by a sleepover for all those who can (unfortunately any guys interested in sleeping over are out of luck). I'm deciding between this weekend and next weekend. I really want to make it so just about everyone can be there so please tell me which weekend will be better for each of you. Also, I am compiling a memory book of sorts so if you can think of any odd or funny or memorable times (such as the time Austin snorted pixie sticks at a halloween party, or the time jenn was a cheerleader, etc.) I would love to have your additions.

Sadies

So yup^^
I just got back from our sadies day activity (and yes I am aware that today is thursday)which was totally awesome. We have a huge group (7 couples) and we all piled in my van and went to a corn maze. We spent maybe 15-20 minutes actually in the maze, and then spent the rest of the time doing the little side activities. I got almost completely buried in corn (which I ended up shaking out of my clothes for the next hour), we all rode pedal cars, Sam Coons (my date) and I figured out all of the no left turn mazes, and we all sat in the cow cars. After that we all stormed Kohlers and sat in the parking lot drinking hot Kohlers chocolate and eating donuts. *grin* We still have absolutely no idea what we're going to do on saturday for dinner though. knowing how our group has been handling it, I don't think we'll know what we're doing untill about noon on saturday.
In other news the spirit bowl is tomorrow and I'm doing the flour toss contest. I just know I'm gona be white all day. I was supposed to go to a meeting tonight for all the competitors (imagine that, organization in the administration for once), but I couldn't make it. this is going to be both the principal and vice principal's first spirit bowl, meaning that it will determine whether or not we do them again. It was pretty funny today as someone (assumedly from AF) burned, then spray painted a red A on the football field, much to the outrage of certain people who will remain nameless. Dr Coop strongly discouraged any physical retaliation, but gave us all permission to verbally bash AF as much as possible at the game. in all reality I assume both will come into play, but it was nice of him to take time to warn us about it.

life update

I finally have the chance to actually post. The past month or so has been really busy/chaotic/tiring/emotional/extreme/add any appropriate word here. School has been going relatively well, and my grades have fortunately remained high. I tell you what Mrs. Woolsey is a saint. Were it not for her 2:45 homework policy there's no way I'd ever get any sleep. The past 2-3 weeks Cory and I had been working on our scene (Hamlet, a.4 sn.3) in any spare time we had. Which, considering Cory was involved in ensemble and in Les Mis., and I was involved in debate, MUN, and home stuff, was quite a problem timewise. Cedar city was awesome as always, though there wern't quite as many DTR's as we had predicted. Competitions sucked and we all got pretty screwed over by the judges. Cory and I got scores of 3rd, 4th, and first for ours.
And now life would be back to normal except for the addition of my grandpa's family coming to stay with us. For clarification, my grandpa works in Mexico a great deal for buisiness and met and married a lady named Maggie, who has 4 chilrden ( Chris-14, Ana-12, Chewi-10, Maggie-8). They're living with us fro a while while they buy a house in Cali. The only problem with their stay (besides clashing of personalities and rooming issues) is the fact that Chris is the only one of the children who speaks English. Maggie (the mom) understands a far amount of English while my dad speaks Spanish, so we fortunately have a fair amount of interpreters. On top of that I'm remembering words from 8th grade spanish, and have started (by no will of my own)speaking in a spanish accent while at home. Such has been really weird, especially as I have pretty much no idea what they're saying to my face, let alone behind my back.
And on that note bed calls and sleep is of great importance right now.
